I have owned a 3D printer for many years now. My favourite thing to print is useful things – I like the idea of it paying for itself, or even better – make a profit! So, I ask myself… what can I 3D print for Emerald Rentals?
initial ideas
The obvious things to print would be branded items – keyrings. Easy enough to design, easy to print, and actually a nice little detail and a practical one too, to help identify and find the mobility scooter key. So, I’ve done that successfully – another small step forward. I’ve also 3D printed business card holders which have been useful.
Another item I printed are small QR stands. I had notions that hotels would be eager to put these on their desk to advertise to their customers for me. That was a bit optimistic. Lucky I printed just 1 or 2 of those.
future 3D prints
Well, I have another notion – what about 3D printed robot arm (with supporting electronics, arduino, etc.) which could be used as an education tool / showcase item / etc. That’d be a fun and challenging project, but, I’ve higher priority items to work on currently! It’ll be a good sign if you see a robot arm available on Emerald Rentals in the future.
