Question 1

Can I push myself, or does someone need to push me?

Accepted Answer

Both. The Icon 35 LX has 22-inch rear wheels with push rims, so you can self-propel on flat ground. It also has push handles with attendant brakes and step tubes for kerbs, so a companion can push and tip it over steps when needed.

Question 2

Will it fit in a taxi boot?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The frame folds side-to-side, the backrest folds down and the rear wheels are quick-release. Fully assembled it weighs 13.2 kg (29 lb); with the wheels and leg rests removed it's 8.4 kg (18.5 lb), which fits comfortably in a standard Dublin taxi or a hire-car boot.

Question 3

What is the maximum user weight?

Accepted Answer

This chair is suitable for users up to 120 kg (265 lb).

Question 4

What seat width is it?

Accepted Answer

The Icon 35 LX is made in 40, 45 and 50 cm seat widths. Tell us the user's height and build when you enquire and we'll confirm which we have available for your dates.

Question 5

How does delivery and collection work?

Accepted Answer

We deliver to your hotel, Airbnb or rental address in Dublin, ideally the night before you check in. If your accommodation has a reception desk we can leave the chair there for you. On your last day, leave it with reception or at the agreed spot and we collect it. We deliver and collect every day, from early morning into the evening, and we're flexible: tell us what suits you and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

Question 6

How do I book it?

Accepted Answer

For now, bookings are taken through our partner motion4rent using the button on this page. Direct booking on emeraldrentals.ie is coming soon. If you have a question first, message us on WhatsApp or through the contact page.

Question 7

Is the wheelchair cleaned between rentals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every chair is sanitised between rentals and mechanically checked: brakes, tyres, quick-release axles and folding mechanism. The seat cover is removable and washed.

Question 8

What happens if something goes wrong during my stay?

Accepted Answer

Get in touch straight away. We're a small Dublin team, so the person who delivered your chair is the one you'll talk to. Within Dublin we'll swap or fix the chair, typically within a few hours during operating hours.

Question 9

Can I use it outdoors on Dublin's streets?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It's built for indoor and outdoor use, and the front castors are wide, solid wheels on metal forks rather than the narrow plastic ones on cheaper chairs, so they roll over Dublin's uneven pavements more comfortably and don't get caught in gaps. Avoid cobblestones where you can, as with any wheelchair: Temple Bar and some older streets have stretches of them, and a smoother route is usually a street away. Cross tram tracks at a right angle, and the step tubes let a companion tip the front wheels over kerbs and single steps.

Question 10

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Because the booking currently lives on the partner platform, their cancellation and refund terms apply. See our cancellation policy page for the details and links.
