These terms cover the rental of equipment from Emerald Rentals. They are written in plain English, not legalese. By renting from us (whether directly or through one of our partner platforms), you agree to these terms alongside the partner's own policies where applicable.
Emerald Rentals is a Dublin-based equipment hire business serving visitors to Ireland. Quick definitions used throughout:
At present, bookings reach us in three ways:
If you are booking through Cloud of Goods or Motion4Rent, please familiarise yourself with their terms, cancellation policies and refund rules in addition to these. Their policies govern payment and refunds. Ours govern the rental itself once equipment is in your hands.
Open communication is the easiest way to keep things running smoothly. After a booking is placed, we typically confirm delivery and collection times with you over WhatsApp, or email if you prefer. Please respond, even briefly, so we know you have seen it. If your plans change, or if anything is wrong with the equipment, please tell us as soon as you can. Sooner is always better than later.
Delivery and collection windows are agreed with you in advance, typically by WhatsApp message. Most rentals are delivered to a hotel reception on your behalf and collected from the same place at the end of the rental period. This is the default and it works well.
If reception drop-off is not possible (for example an Airbnb, private residence or specific address), we will arrange a direct handover. You, or someone you have authorised, needs to be there at the agreed time.
If you are not available for an agreed handover and we have to come back another time, a redelivery fee applies. The same goes for collection: equipment must be available where and when we agreed, otherwise an additional collection fee may apply.
During the rental period, you are responsible for the equipment. That means:
We do not expect equipment to come back perfect. Fair wear and tear is fine and entirely normal. What is not fine is deliberate damage, misuse or neglect, in which case you may be liable for the cost of repair or replacement.
Emerald Rentals carries business insurance covering our equipment and our operations. This is business cover for us, not personal travel or medical insurance for you. We strongly recommend you have your own travel insurance and, where relevant, personal liability insurance for your trip. Our cover does not extend to your personal effects, your medical needs or any third-party situations arising from your use of the equipment.

To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, our liability for any claim arising from a rental is limited to the total rental fee paid for that booking.
If something is faulty, missing or not what you expected on delivery, please contact us straight away. We will do our best to swap or fix the issue, typically within a few hours during operating hours.
If an item booked through us is not available at the time of delivery (a stock issue on our side), we treat reinstating it as a priority and will source an alternative or refund the affected portion. We do not, however, accept liability for losses resulting from the unavailability (cancelled plans, alternative arrangements, lost time and so on). Travel insurance is the right vehicle for those.
For bookings made through Cloud of Goods or Motion4Rent, the partner platform's cancellation and refund terms apply, and refunds (if any) are issued by them.
For direct enquiries we have accepted, see our cancellation policy. The website does not currently take direct payments, so this is mostly a forward reference until that changes.
We process personal data in line with our privacy policy. By renting from us, you accept the data handling described there.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your rental is the one published when your booking is confirmed. Material changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
